It seems that just when things are going well, a monkey wrench is thrown in the works and everything slams to a halt. That is what I've felt like for the past few weeks. Why? My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with inoperable liver, intestinal and lymphatic system cancer. She is 3000 miles away in a lovely corner of North Wales and that is where my heart and head are these days during the quiet moments of my day. So every time I've sat down to write a blog post I get hung up and can't write.
The good news is that it was discovered while the numerous tumors are teeny tiny. The bad news is that there are so many that an operation is not going to help. So to keep the tumors from growing she'll be on two kinds of chemo - a drip each week and a daily pill. But she is happy to have a great team at the hospital in Bangor to work with and see this through. That is all we know. Frustrating ignorance at our end. Charles and I can't wait to get over to see her in December.
Jan, I'm very sorry to hear of Charles' mother's cancer and to imagine the long weeks of treatment ahead. It must be so hard for you and Charles to be far away from her right now. I'm glad you'll get to see her at Christmas time.
